General flow: Course → Wind → Groups & Power → Rider Setup → Parameters
Optimizations → New optimization ▾ → Pacing.
In Edit optimization, name it:
Optimization name (e.g., IM 70.3 Switzerland 2025 – Bike)
Version name (e.g., Baseline)
Load from my collection → choose from All / Official public / Custom.
Or upload a new course by clicking New course.
(Optional) Adjust segmentation:
→ Trim Course ← to keep only the connected race section.
Apply automatic segmentation ▾ → Coarse / Medium / Fine.
Custom segments: Split / Merge / Move end of segment.
Note: Re-applying automatic segmentation after manual edits can overwrite your changes.
Click Next.
At the top:
Local Date & Time of Event → Get forecast (first) or Update forecast (after changes).
Bulk tools by selecting some or all segments:
Define Manual Wind → turns Manual ON everywhere and bulk sets one direction & speed that is applied to all selected segments.
Use Forecast → turns Manual OFF everywhere and reverts to automatic forecast.
Per-row columns:
Manual (toggle) • Headwind [km/h] • Wind from • Wind speed [km/h]
Tips:
Change segments? Click Update forecast.
Toggle Manual for a row to edit that segment’s wind directly.
Click Next.
Goal: fewer, memorable power targets.
Columns include Slope [%], Headwind [km/h], Group, Manual power.
Optional: Group dropdown → assign the default group (e.g., Flat with headwind, Climb, Steep descent, etc.).
Optional: Manual power toggle:
ON = this segment uses a fixed power (not optimized).
OFF = this segment is optimized.
Each group lists its name (e.g., Steep descent, Descent, Flat with headwind, False flat climb, Climb, Steep climb).
Group Power [W]:
Leave manual toggle OFF (default) → optimizer finds the best group power.
Or toggle ON and enter a manual group power (fixes all segments in that group).
Click Next.
Load from my collection → pick a setup (shows Bike/Ride Type and Drag Parameters) → Load
Or define a new rider setup by clicking New rider setup
Edit inline (this won't change the rider setup in the collection, this way you can iterate through rider setup options without having to create too many rider setups in your collection):
Bike type dropdown: Triathlon / Time trial / Road race / Road endurance
Bike Weight [kg]
Positions table: Rider position / CdA [m²] / Speed range [kph]
Custom positions to edit CdA/Speed range manually
Custom gearing to edit Chainring(s) and Cassette range manually
Click Next.
Optimization target
Optimization Model: Normalized Power™ (Core and Pro plans: this is the only available option)
Normalized Power™ [W]: enter your target (e.g., 250)
Info banner confirms the run will optimize for the fastest strategy at that Normalized Power™.
Click Run Optimization.

“No forecast data …” → set event time, Get/Update forecast.
Can’t edit wind → toggle Manual for that row, or use bulk edit with selecting the desired segment rows.
Plan too granular → in Groups & Power, use Grouping for entire course ▾ → Apply default groups to all segments, then tweak.
