What is the Swiss Side Performance Platform??
The Swiss Side Performance Platform is a powerful decision-support tool for triathletes and cyclists. It uses a data-driven approach to optimize your equipment selection and pacing strategy for a specific event, helping you achieve your best possible finish time.
Who is this platform for?
The platform is designed for professional, semi-professional and ambitious triathletes and cyclists who use power meters and are serious about optimizing their performance.
How will this platform help me on race day?
It removes the uncertainty from your race plan. By providing a clear, data-backed strategy for equipment and pacing, it frees up your mental energy so you can focus on executing your race with confidence.
How does the equipment comparison work?
You can create and save multiple rider & bike setups within the platform. You can then run a simulation for a specific course to see the time difference and performance impact of each equipment choice on your overall race and on different course segments.
How does the pacing optimization work?
You provide a course file (or select a public course), a wind forecast, and your rider/bike setup. Our platform then analyses these inputs to generate an optimal pacing plan, advising you on which segments you should over-pace or under-pace to achieve the fastest finish time.
What kind of course files can I upload?
The platform supports common file formats used in cycling and triathlon, such as GPX or FIT files.
How do you get the wind forecast?
The platform can automatically fetch a detailed wind forecast for your chosen course and race date, or you can manually input the wind data if you have a specific source.
Can I pause/cancel my subscription?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription anytime, and your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. We will keep your data for 12 months so you can subscribe again and continue using your data.
I can’t run the optimization, what can I do?
Make sure you have filled in all the required fields and all the steps are marked as completed (marked by a hook).
How does the platform know my aerodynamic data (CdA)?
You can either input your known CdA from wind tunnel/track testing, or use our default values, which estimate your drag based on your physical attributes, bike setup, and riding position. Together with our database of wheel options, these estimations will allow you to answer the most critical equipment questions like 'TT vs road bike', wheel selection and for pacing strategy optimization.
How accurate is the total predicted finish time?
To keep the platform user-friendly, we use standardized assumptions for variables like road surface. Because of this, your actual race time may vary by a few minutes over a long-distance triathlon ride. Think of the total time as a high-level estimate, while the real value lies in the data-driven comparison between equipment choices and pacing strategies.
How accurate are the time-saving predictions?
While absolute times can shift, the relative time-savings between setups or pacing strategies are accurate. Because the same assumptions are applied to every simulation you run, any 'systematic biases' cancel out. This allows the platform to pinpoint the exact performance advantage of one bike setup or pacing strategy over another.
In the equipment comparison, there is a power difference between the different setups although the power is set by the pacing strategy. How comes?
The power difference shown in the comparison is a virtual estimated difference that tells you how much more power you would have to put on the pedals to make up for the speed difference.
