General flow: Course → Wind → Pacing → Rider Setups & Equipment
Go to Optimizations → New optimization ▾ → Equipment.
Give it an Optimization name (e.g., Wheel test – Roth).
The wizard shows four steps: Course, Wind, Pacing, Rider Setups & Equipment.
Load from my collection → choose from All / Official public / Custom.
Or upload a new course by clicking New course.
(Optional) Adjust segmentation:
→ Trim Course ← to keep only the connected race section.
Apply automatic segmentation ▾ → Coarse / Medium / Fine.
Custom segments: Split / Merge / Move end of segment.
Note: Re-applying automatic segmentation after manual edits can overwrite your changes.
Click Next.
At the top:
Local Date & Time of Event → Get forecast (first) or Update forecast (after changes).
Bulk tools by selecting some or all segments:
Define Manual Wind → turns Manual ON everywhere and bulk sets one direction & speed that is applied to all selected segments.
Use Forecast → turns Manual OFF everywhere and reverts to automatic forecast.
Per-row columns:
Manual (toggle) • Headwind [km/h] • Wind from • Wind speed [km/h]
Tips:
Change segments? Click Update forecast.
Toggle Manual for a row to edit that segment’s wind directly.
Click Next.
Equipment comparison uses a fixed pacing table (not an optimizer). All rider/equipment setups will be simulated using this same power plan.
Use Apply constant power to bulk-fill the Pedalling power [W] column (e.g., enter 250 and Apply), select specific segments and set the same pedalling power for these segments, or type values per segment directly.
You can still adjust segmentation earlier if the table is too long/short.
You can also create an equipment optimization based on a pacing optimization result, where the segment powers will be pre-filled with the powers of the pacing strategy.

You need at least two rider setups, or one rider setup with multiple wheel options, to enable Run optimization.
Select the type of comparison you want to perform. Rider setups or Wheel options.
Click Add rider setup or Select a rider setup → Load one from your collection.
The selection table shows Name, Bike Type and Drag Parameters (CdA).
Tip: For clean A/B tests, keep the same rider profile and CdA across setups and vary only wheels/tyres—unless you explicitly want to compare different bikes/positions.
Click + Add wheel option
Select front/rear wheels and tyres and confirm with Add.
The first wheel/tyre setup you add will be treated as the baseline. Use another wheel/tyre setup as the baseline by clicking the Set button.
Remove any unnecessary wheel/tyre setups with the trash button.
Click Add rider setup again to add another rider setup (e.g., Road race vs Triathlon).
Run optimization becomes available once you have:
≥ 2 rider setups, or
1 rider setup with ≥ 2 wheel options (so there’s something to compare).
If not, you’ll see a warning banner.
Click Run optimization.
Results will show time deltas vs reference for each setup. Use the Compare view(s) and Export ▾ as needed.
Keep the pacing consistent: Because every option shares the same power plan, your comparison reflects equipment differences, not pacing differences.
Choose a realistic reference/baseline: Use the setup you’d normally race; this makes deltas meaningful.
Wind matters: If you adjust segments later, hit Update forecast to refresh winds before running.
Naming: If you plan multiple experiments, add the target (e.g., “TT vs road”) to the optimization version for easy retrieval.
Run optimization is disabled → ensure at least two compare targets (multiple wheel options or multiple rider setups).
Wind rows show warnings → set event time and Get/Update forecast, or bulk-apply manual wind.
Unexpected results → verify baseline selection in the wheel options table; the comparison is relative to that baseline.
